Troubleshooting
- Word count differs from Microsoft Word.
- Different tools count contractions, hyphenated words, and numbers differently. Most tools (including this one) treat each whitespace-separated token as a word.
- Reading time seems off.
- The estimate uses 225 words per minute (average adult reading pace). Adjust the WPM in advanced options if you have a slower or faster audience in mind.
- Counting code blocks inflates the total.
- Strip code samples before counting if you only want prose. Or paste prose only, count, then paste the rest.
