What is PDF Page Counter?
Get an accurate page count for any PDF — including encrypted, scanned, or hybrid PDFs — without opening it in Adobe Reader. The counter also reports file size, PDF version, encryption flag, and average pages per MB, so you can quickly judge whether a file fits an email attachment limit or a print-shop quote.

Examples
Print-shop quoting
Drop 10 PDFs in at once and get a list of page counts to feed into the print quote without opening each file.
Encrypted contracts
Even password-protected PDFs return their page count (you don't need to unlock to read metadata).
Email-limit check
See file size and page count side-by-side to decide if the PDF needs splitting before sending.
Common use cases
- Print-shop estimating
- Bulk-checking page counts before merging or splitting
- Validating page counts in legal/regulatory submissions
- Auditing whether a PDF meets a "max N pages" rule
- Programmatic file triage for downstream pipelines
Troubleshooting
- Count seems off for a scanned PDF
- The counter reports the actual page count in the PDF. If a single scan was split into multiple PDFs and re-merged, the count is still accurate — open the file to verify.
- Encrypted PDF returns "0 pages"
- A few PDFs encrypt even their metadata. Unlock with a password (PDF Unlock tool) first, then recount.
- Two PDFs with the same content show different counts
- Different rendering — one may have blank trailing pages from a print-to-PDF driver. Strip blank pages with the Split PDF tool.
Frequently Asked Questions
The tool reads the PDF's internal structure and counts the page objects. The result appears within a second, even for large files, because no rendering is needed.
