What is Audio Trimmer?
Trim audio files to a precise segment using hh:mm:ss timecodes — perfect for extracting a podcast highlight, isolating a song section, or cutting silence from the start of a voice memo. The built-in player shows the timestamp in the same format as the inputs so you can hear-and-mark instead of guessing.
Why use this tool?
- Works offline after the first page load
- Lightweight page weight that loads quickly even on slow connections
- Works on desktop, tablet, and mobile in any modern browser
How to use
- Upload an audio file (the page plays it so you can scrub)
- Enter Start in hh:mm:ss
- Enter End (leave blank to trim to end of file)
- Pick output format and click Trim Audio
Examples
Podcast highlight clip
Trim a 2-hour podcast down to the 5-minute segment where a key topic comes up, ready to share.
Ringtone from a song
Cut the catchy 30-second hook out of an MP3 to use as a phone ringtone.
Remove silence at start
A voice memo starts with 8 seconds of throat-clearing — set start = 00:00:08 and the trimmed file is publish-ready.
Common use cases
- Podcast highlight clips
- Ringtones from songs (own content)
- Trimming silence from voice memos
- Extracting a specific segment of a lecture
- Isolating a quote from an interview
Troubleshooting
- Output starts a moment after the requested time
- Some lossy codecs (e.g. MP3) only allow boundary cuts at frame edges (~26 ms). Re-encode to WAV first if you need sample-accurate cuts.
- Times entered as seconds get rejected
- Raw seconds work (`90` = 1m30s). If it's rejected, you may have a stray space or letter — the input expects digits + colons only.
- End time before start time
- The tool can't produce negative-length output. Swap the values, or leave End blank to trim from Start to the file's end.
